Vazhai Podimas




Ingredients (for 2 persons):
  1. Raw Banana                            2 nos
  2. Grated coconut                       1/2 cup
  3. Ginger                                     a small piece
  4. Fresh lemon                            1 no
  5. Green chillies                          1 -2 
  6. Mustard seeds                          one teaspoon
  7. Split Urad dal                           one teaspoon
  8. Dry Red Chili                          1-2 
  9. Oil                                            two teaspoons
  10. Curry leaves                             a few
  11. Coriander leaves                      a few 
  12. Salt                                           to taste
  13. Hing powder                            a little to taste
Pre - Preparation :
  1. Cut the raw bananas into halves and boil it in a bowl of water till the banana becomes soft.
  2. The skin color will change and the skin will start to loosen.
  3. Let it cool.
  4. Peel off the skins.
  5. Cut the ginger, green chillies into small pieces.
Preparation method:
  1. Using a carrot grater, grate the cooked bananas.
  2. Pour oil in a pan or kadai and put in the mustard seeds, urad dal, wait till the mustard splutters. Add the red chili,green chillies, ginger pieces, curry leaves and saute for a minute.
  3. Add the grated bananas, the hing powder and salt.
  4. Add the grated coconut.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Before removing from heat, squeeze the lemon over it,mix thoroughly.
